The holidays are coming, and we all want our homes to look their best to welcome visitors. As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, here are some tips to get the outside of your home looking great in time for the influx of friends and family.

1. Declutter and tidy your yard

Nothing spoils the look of your home more than a cluttered and untidy yard. Make sure toys, tools, and other items are cleared from your front and back yards ahead of the season. Loose items, debris, and fallen leaves can all make the yard look untidy, so spend some time clearing it up and ensuring your yard makes a good impression on visitors.

2. Consider new fencing and gates

Fencing is one of the first things people see when they approach our homes. Make sure yours is looking its best by evaluating your current fencing and gates. Aluminum is becoming an increasingly popular choice for homeowners because it is strong, durable, stylish, and – best of all – requires little to no maintenance.

Aluminum fence panels do not rust or oxidize in the same way that other metals do, which means aluminum fencing can last for decades to come, while a special powder-coated finish adds extra strength and protection and keeps it looking good. Plus, you can install your own DIY aluminum fence to save money on labor costs.

3. Show your entryway some TLC

Spend some time looking at the approach to your home. Ensure the pathways are swept, wash the steps up to your front door, and trim any plants and bushes before your visitors arrive. You may also want to give your front door a cleaning to make sure it sets the tone for the rest of your home.

4. Clean your fencing

If you have already made the wise decision to opt for aluminum fencing, now is the time to get it looking its best. Aluminum fencing requires little more than a wash-down every once in a while, and as the holidays approach, now could be the perfect time to do that. Gently wipe any dirt or debris from your aluminum fence panels before spraying them with a hose or pressure washer. Next, wash them with a soft sponge and a gentle dish soap before rinsing them with water and either leaving them to dry naturally or buffing them dry with a towel. This will help to make your aluminum fence look as good as the day it was first installed.

You may also want to wash any aluminum gates or handrails to ensure the front of your home is ready to make the right impression on visitors.

5. Turn your fencing into festive fencing

This is the holiday season, so have fun with your decorations and help spread some festive cheer in your neighborhood! Why not start in the garden and add some Christmas lights to your aluminum fence panels? You could even go all out and hang candy canes, ornaments, and tinsel on it. After all, when it comes to festive decorations, the more, the merrier!
