restrictions in your area?

fence safety codes. Pool fencing restrictions differ all over the
United States; even, sometimes within the same city! Check with
your HOA or local township/city; they should be able to provide you with
a list of restrictions/requirements.
You may or may not have any requirements; it depends on where you live.
The following information meets BOCA which is the strictest code in the
country but may or may not apply to your property.
The most important BOCA compliance factors are:

Fence must be at least 48" (4 ft) tall. |
Spacing between the vertical pickets must be less than 4" |
Gates: self-closing, self-latching, open away from the
pool. |

The mid-rail must be at least 45" above the bottom rail. |
Space between bottom rail and ground must be less than
4". |
Latch must
be at least 54" above ground. |
